The lyrics speak to a deep respect for the history of what the couple have been through, and how they felt at the start - maybe things changed in what they needed next, but the depth of what they feel hasn’t really greyed out,
Is it a friendship? A twin flame? Who can know. They won’t be together again, and things may not be the same when they see each other down the road, but there’s a hope (maybe a faith) that they will be connected again at another time - in whatever way that may be. In the track, the lyrics make it apparent that while both parties still feel very deeply connected/care for one another, there’s a resignation that they both need to take separate paths on their journey forward. It was a great relationship and it ended over a drawn out period where neither one of us could be brave to admit what it was we really needed, our of fear of hurting each other. I connected pretty deeply with this song during the end of a relationship.
